TLDR Black raspberry extract may help with hair growth, skin whitening, and weight loss.
The study investigated the anti-aging effects of black raspberry extract (BRE) and other berry extracts, focusing on their antioxidant properties. BRE demonstrated significant potential in promoting hair growth by enhancing follicle dermal papilla cell growth and inducing type 17 collagen and HSP47 mRNA expression in hair follicle stem cells. It also inhibited 5a-reductase activity, which is linked to alopecia. Additionally, BRE and Blabina, a formulation containing BRE, showed protective effects on lens cells, stimulated irisin secretion from skeletal muscles, and inhibited tyrosinase activity in melanocytes, contributing to skin whitening. The findings suggested that BRE, due to its high antioxidant capacity, had promising anti-aging effects, including benefits for hair growth and skin health.
