TLDR Continued research and awareness are needed to improve treatments for androgen-dependent diseases.
This editorial discusses the challenges and advancements in treating androgen-dependent diseases such as metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC), benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Despite progress, no treatment is free of side effects. Jian et al. review the molecular mechanisms of CRPC, while Chen et al. analyze the efficacy of treatments like olaparib and abiraterone, finding olaparib monotherapy extends survival. Wang et al. highlight hyperandrogenism's role in PCOS, identifying androstenedione as a diagnostic marker. Alzahrani et al. study BPH prevalence in Saudi Arabia, noting a knowledge gap in risk factors like obesity. The editorial emphasizes the need for continued research and awareness in managing these conditions.
