TLDR Alopecia is caused by various factors, and new treatments like gene editing and regenerative medicine offer hope for personalized hair regrowth solutions.
Alopecia involves complex causes, including genetic, immune, hormonal, and environmental factors, leading to hair loss. Recent research has identified genetic variations linked to androgenetic and autoimmune alopecia, emphasizing the role of immune responses. Advances in regenerative medicine, such as exosome-based treatments and CRISPR-Cas9, offer new therapeutic options aimed at restoring hair growth. Despite progress with drugs like corticosteroids and JAK inhibitors, achieving lasting hair regrowth is challenging. This review highlights the integration of genetics, immunity, and regenerative science in understanding and treating alopecia, aiming for personalized and regenerative solutions.
