Studysummary This study found that topical treatment with 7DHC and BM15766 reduced hair growth in mice compared to those treated with Ethanol/DMSO, and hair did not recover after treatment ceased, alongside increased apoptotic cells and decreased expression of specific genes. Our plain-language summary of this paper — not a Tressless recommendation.
A study involving 5 C57BL/6 mice examined the effects of topical treatments 7DHC and BM15766 on hair growth. The treatments led to reduced hair growth compared to the Ethanol/DMSO vehicle-treated group, which successfully regrew hair. Gene expression analysis showed down-regulation of LGR5, WNT 5A, SOX9, and SHH in treated mice. Additionally, BrdU labeling did not indicate stem cell retention in treated mice, unlike controls. TMR red imaging revealed more apoptotic or DNA-damaged cells in treated samples compared to controls.
