TLDR The laser treatment increased hair density in men with hair loss.
A prospective clinical study conducted in Brazil evaluated the efficacy and safety of a 1,927-nm fractionated thulium laser as a monotherapy for male pattern hair loss (PHL). The study involved 11 male patients who underwent 12 weekly laser treatment sessions. Results showed significant increases in total hair count (p = 0.021) and terminal hair count (p = 0.041), although no significant change was observed in average hair thickness per cm². The treatment was well tolerated, with only mild and transient redness reported. These findings suggest that fractionated thulium laser therapy could be a promising option for managing PHL, though further large-scale studies are needed to confirm its efficacy and long-term outcomes.
