fibrous tissue replacing normal skin after injury or surgery

Scar tissue, also known as cicatrix, is the fibrous connective tissue that forms over a wound as it heals. Unlike normal skin, scar tissue is composed primarily of collagen and lacks the full functionality and appearance of the original tissue, often resulting in a different texture and color. This tissue can form after injuries, surgeries, or conditions like severe acne, and while it serves to protect the wound, it can sometimes lead to complications such as restricted movement or discomfort.
