    GlossaryScar Tissue (Scar)

fibrous tissue replacing normal skin after injury or surgery

Scar tissue, also known as cicatrix, is the fibrous connective tissue that forms over a wound as it heals. Unlike normal skin, scar tissue is composed primarily of collagen and lacks the full functionality and appearance of the original tissue, often resulting in a different texture and color. This tissue can form after injuries, surgeries, or conditions like severe acne, and while it serves to protect the wound, it can sometimes lead to complications such as restricted movement or discomfort.

The conversation is about concerns over starting minoxidil due to the initial shedding phase, with minoxidil being the only available treatment option. Despite fears, shedding is a normal part of the process and indicates new hair growth.

RU58841 caused severe side effects like heart palpitations and shortness of breath, leading the user to stop using it. Minoxidil and finasteride were effective without side effects, while RU58841's safety and effectiveness remain uncertain.
