block a protein that regulates cell growth and survival

mTOR inhibitors, also known as mTOR blockers or mTOR antagonists, are a class of drugs that inhibit the activity of the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR), a protein that regulates cell growth, proliferation, and survival. By blocking mTOR, these inhibitors can slow down or stop the growth of cancer cells and are also being explored for their potential in treating other conditions like autoimmune diseases and certain types of hair loss, such as alopecia.
