genetic condition causing male individuals to develop female traits

Complete Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome (CAIS) is a genetic condition where an individual who is genetically male (with one X and one Y chromosome) is resistant to male hormones called androgens. As a result, the person has the physical traits of a female but does not have a uterus or ovaries, and typically has undescended testes. This condition is caused by mutations in the AR gene, which affects the body's ability to respond to androgens.
