Why is Estradiol used to treat hair loss in women and transgender people undergoing hormone therapy? Estradiol is used within supervised hormone therapy and may slow hormone-related hair loss in some women and trans women, but the evidence is limited and it carries serious whole-body risks.
Is applying Estradiol directly to the scalp effective for hormone-related hair thinning? There are no good-quality trials showing that estradiol applied to the scalp treats hormone-related thinning. Skin-applied estradiol can still enter the bloodstream and pass to others through contact.
