Is caffeinated shampoo effective or just a marketing gimmick? Small trials of caffeine shampoos report less shedding, but a 2025 systematic review rated most caffeine trials low or very low quality. None shows that a caffeine shampoo regrows hair.
Does the caffeine in the scalp reach the follicles or stay on the surface? In small studies, mostly on chest or leg skin rather than the scalp, topical caffeine entered hair follicles within minutes. Whether enough reaches the follicle cells in the scalp to affect hair growth has not been shown.
