Hair follicle involution refers to the process where hair follicles shrink and enter a resting phase, leading to hair shedding. This is a natural part of the hair growth cycle, known as the catagen phase, where the follicle stops producing hair and prepares for a period of dormancy before eventually regenerating and starting a new growth cycle.
