    GlossarySensory Neurons

specialized cells that transmit sensory information to the brain

Sensory neurons, also known as afferent neurons, are specialized nerve cells responsible for converting external stimuli from the environment into internal electrical impulses. These neurons transmit information from sensory receptors (such as those in the skin, eyes, and ears) to the central nervous system, allowing the brain to process and respond to sensory input.
