    GlossarySensory Perception

process of interpreting sensory information from environment

Sensory perception is the process by which our brain interprets and makes sense of the information gathered by our sensory organs, such as the eyes, ears, skin, nose, and tongue. This involves the detection of stimuli (like light, sound, touch, smell, and taste) and the subsequent neural processing that allows us to experience and respond to our environment. For example, when you touch a hot surface, sensory receptors in your skin send signals to your brain, which then perceives the sensation of heat and prompts you to withdraw your hand.
