TLDR Wearable bioelectronics show promise for improving chronic wound care.
The review "Wearable Bioelectronics for Chronic Wound Management" discusses the potential of wearable bioelectronics in personalized wound care. Chronic wounds are a significant healthcare issue affecting millions of patients globally. Current wound management strategies have limited clinical efficacy due to labor-intensive lab analysis, the need for clinicians' experiences, and frequent long-term interventions. Wearable bioelectronics offer advantages such as wearability, low-cost, and easy and quick application. The review covers recent advances in wearable bioelectronics for monitoring and managing chronic wounds, including the design principles and key features of bioelectronics that can adapt to unique wound conditions. It also summarizes the current state of wound biosensors and on-demand therapeutic systems and discusses the design criteria of integrated closed-loop devices. The review concludes by discussing future perspectives and challenges in wearable bioelectronics for wound care.
