TLDR Walnut extract may help lower cholesterol and inflammation.
The study investigates the effects of walnut fruit diaphragm ethanol extract (E-WFD) on hyperlipidemia induced by Triton WR-1339 in Wistar rats. The research involved 5 groups, including a healthy control and various treatment groups, each with 6 rats. E-WFD demonstrated lipid-lowering effects by reducing total cholesterol (TC) and triglycerides (TG) while increasing HDL-C levels. It also showed antioxidant potential by altering oxidative stress markers (MDA, SOD, CAT) and improved histopathological conditions in tissues. Additionally, E-WFD significantly inhibited the expression of inflammatory biomarker genes such as Tnf-α, Il-6, and Il-1β. These findings suggest that E-WFD could be a valuable alternative in pharmacology, food, and cosmetics for managing hyperlipidemia-related damage.
