A Comparative Study of Vitamin D Levels in Persons With Hair Loss and Healthy Subjects

    TLDR Low vitamin D levels are linked to hair loss in women.
    This study investigated the relationship between vitamin D levels and hair loss by comparing 70 patients with hair loss to healthy controls. The results indicated that patients with hair loss had significantly lower levels of vitamin D compared to the controls, with a mean level of 16.188±6.91 in patients versus 20.37±7.47 in controls (P=0.04). The study found a significant relationship between low vitamin D levels and hair loss in women, with female patients showing lower vitamin D levels (14.14±5.8) compared to female controls (18.74±7.08, P=0.03). However, no significant relationship was found in male patients. The study concluded that there was a relationship between vitamin D levels and hair loss in women.
