This study highlights the potential of pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) leaf extracts as a source of bioactive compounds with significant antioxidant, antimicrobial, and cytotoxic properties. The extracts, particularly those obtained through microwave-assisted extraction (MAE), were rich in phenolic compounds and demonstrated strong antibacterial and antifungal activities, as well as cytotoxic effects against cancer cell lines while maintaining over 70% viability in skin cell lines. Despite some toxicity towards non-tumor liver cells, the extracts showed promise for use in nutraceutical and cosmeceutical applications, suggesting their potential as natural antimicrobial agents and in skin-related products. The study emphasizes the valorization of agricultural by-products like pomegranate leaves for sustainable and value-added applications.
