This paper detailed the case of a one-year-old female American Pit Bull Terrier with progressive baldness diagnosed as alopecia X, a hormone-responsive dermatosis. Initial treatment with ovariohysterectomy led to temporary hair regrowth, but symptoms returned more severely. Further hormonal tests indicated an adrenal sex hormone imbalance, leading to trilostane therapy at 8 mg/kg/day, administered twice daily. This treatment resulted in complete hair regrowth within four months, with no adverse effects observed.
