TLDR Pondoh salak fruit peel extract is effective in shampoo and has strong antimicrobial properties.
The study aimed to create a shampoo from the ethanol extract of Pondoh salak fruit peel (Salacca edulis Reinw) and test its stability and effectiveness against Staphylococcus epidermidis and Candida albicans. Four formulations with varying concentrations (0%, 10%, 15%, 20%) were tested. The shampoo met physical stability requirements and showed strong inhibitory effects on Staphylococcus epidermidis, with the 10% concentration showing the highest inhibition (32.93 mm). For Candida albicans, the 10% and 15% concentrations had very strong inhibition zones (24.61 mm and 25.94 mm, respectively), while the 20% concentration had a strong inhibition zone (19.44 mm).
