TLDR Wera leaf extract can help with hair growth.
The study investigated the anti-alopecia properties of Malvaviscus arboreus Cav. (Wera) leaf, traditionally used in West Java for hair growth. The leaves were processed with ethanol, ethyl acetate, and hexane, and their hair growth stimulation was tested using the Tanaka modification method with minoxidil 2% as a control. Results showed that a 15% concentration of the extract had significant hair growth activity comparable to the positive control. Among the fractions, the n-hexane fraction was the most effective. The study concluded that Wera leaf has potential as an anti-alopecia treatment, though further research is needed to identify the active compounds.
