The Potency of Hibiscus Rosa-Sinensis Linn. Leaves Ethanol Extract as Hair Growth

    The study investigated the potential of Hibiscus rosa-sinensis Linn. leaves ethanol extract for promoting hair growth. Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of flavonoids, alkaloids, glycosides, tannins, and steroids/terpenoids in the extracts. In vivo testing on mice over 25 days showed significant hair growth with the ethanol extract, with the most effective concentration being 10%, resulting in an average hair length of 19 mm. The active constituents, particularly flavonoids and tannins, were suggested to be responsible for this hair growth activity. The study concluded that the ethanol extracts of H. rosa-sinensis leaves could effectively increase hair growth.
