TLDR Complex basal cell carcinomas need personalized treatment due to unique genetic mutations.
This study highlights the distinct nature of complex basal cell carcinomas (BCCs), which differ from common BCCs due to mutations in non-canonical pathways and TP53, leading to treatment resistance and aggressive disease progression. A bioinformatic analysis of whole exome genomics was conducted on 10 complex BCCs and compared with 5 common BCCs, revealing a synergistic interplay of TP53 and non-canonical Sonic Hedgehog pathways with other aggressive oncogenes. These findings emphasize the need for genomically driven, personalized treatment plans to effectively manage complex BCCs and improve patient outcomes.
