TLDR Topical tacalcitol ointment can help improve symptoms of EFFC.
The study investigated the efficacy of topical tacalcitol ointment in treating erythromelanosis follicularis faciei et colli (EFFC), an uncommon erythematous pigmentary disorder. Conducted over 12 weeks with 11 patients, the study found that 90.9% of patients showed improvement in total clinical score, particularly in reducing roughness and scaling. However, the ointment had limited efficacy in treating facial erythema. The study suggested that combining tacalcitol with vascular laser treatment could enhance overall treatment efficacy. Despite the small sample size, the results indicated that topical tacalcitol could be a promising therapeutic option for EFFC.
