TLDR EFFC might be common but underreported.
Erythromelanosis follicularis faciei et colli (EFFC) is a condition marked by erythema, hyperpigmentation, and follicular papules, with fewer than 50 cases reported in the literature. In a 5-year period, five cases were observed in an outpatient department, predominantly affecting males (4:1 ratio) aged 11-19. Most patients exhibited the classic triad of symptoms on the face and keratosis pilaris on the trunk and legs, with no family history of related disorders. Histopathological findings confirmed EFFC in all cases. One patient experienced complete clinical regression with treatment. This case series, the first from India, suggested that EFFC might be common but underreported.
