TLDR A new wound dressing helps heal diabetic wounds faster by reducing inflammation and promoting tissue growth.
The study introduces a novel bilayer wound dressing for diabetic wounds, combining a GelMA/polyphenol layer to reduce inflammation and a PCL/PDGF-BB layer to promote tissue regeneration. The dressing effectively modulates the wound microenvironment, enhancing healing by targeting the AGEs/RAGE axis and facilitating cell proliferation and angiogenesis. In vitro and in vivo tests, including a type II diabetic mouse model, confirmed its biocompatibility and regenerative potential, showing significant improvements in wound closure, collagen deposition, and neovascularization. This dressing presents a promising therapeutic option for managing chronic diabetic wounds with potential clinical impact.
