TLDR Tideglusib with a bacterial cellulose hydrogel improves wound healing in rats.
This preliminary study aimed to evaluate the early effects of topically applied tideglusib (Td) using a bacterial cellulose (BS) based hydrogel carrier on the healing of palatal wounds in rats. Twelve young adult male Sprague Dawley rats were used, with a 4 mm mucosal defect created in the center of their palatal mucosa. The rats were divided into three groups: passive control, hydrogel only, and Td with hydrogel. After 7 days, the wound surface area was measured macroscopically. The results showed a statistically significant difference in wound surface area between the groups (p=0.033), with a significant difference specifically between the initial group and the Td+Hydrogel group (p=0.028). The study concluded that Td applied with a BS-based hydrogel has positive effects on the healing of palatal mucosal wounds in rats.
