TLDR Pro-, pre-, and synbiotics may help with PCOS, but more research is needed.
The umbrella review of meta-analyses of randomized controlled trials on the effects of pro-, pre-, and synbiotics supplementation on polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) found that while there were beneficial effects on some PCOS-related outcomes, the certainty of the evidence was rated as low to very low. This indicates that the current findings are not robust, and further well-designed randomized controlled trials are needed to confirm these results in women with PCOS.
