TLDR Testosterone increases sexual behavior in female capuchin monkeys.
This study investigated the effects of testosterone administration on the behavioral and hormonal aspects of 12 adult female capuchin monkeys over 150 days. The research was conducted in three phases: baseline, testosterone treatment, and placebo. The findings revealed a significant increase in the frequency of sexual behavior and serum levels of testosterone and DHT during the testosterone treatment phase. These results suggest that exogenous testosterone positively influences sexual behavior in female capuchin monkeys and may provide insights into the implications of chronic testosterone use in humans.
