TLDR Trichosanthes kirilowii extract helps wounds heal faster.
The study demonstrated that Trichosanthes kirilowii extract significantly promoted keratinocyte proliferation and wound healing. Treatment with 100 μg/mL of the extract resulted in a 145.38% increase in keratinocyte proliferation and a 238.2% increase in wound closure in vitro. The extract enhanced ERK1/2 phosphorylation and upregulated the expression of c-fos, c-jun, CTGF, and VEGF, which are crucial for cell cycle regulation and angiogenesis. In vivo experiments with a mouse model showed improved wound healing, particularly on days 6 and 7. These findings suggested that Trichosanthes kirilowii extract could be a promising component for skin care and wound healing applications.
