TLDR A boy's hair that was frizzy and hard to comb returned to normal after 9 months, possibly due to genetic factors.
In 2018, a case study reported a 2-year-old boy who developed a condition resembling uncombable hair syndrome (UHS) spontaneously, without any known trigger. UHS is characterized by frizzy, straw-colored hair that is difficult to comb. It typically appears in early childhood and resolves by puberty. The boy's hair returned to normal after 9 months. Genetic testing identified a heterozygous variant in the PLCD1 gene, which is associated with hair development. This case suggests that genetic factors may cause temporary changes in hair texture, potentially in response to an unidentified external factor.
