Effect of Topically Applied Simvastatin Plus Luteolin on Enhancing Hair Development in Male Mice

This study investigated the effects of simvastatin and Luteolin on hair regrowth and hair loss prevention in 25 male mice. The mice were divided into five groups, including a sham group and groups treated with Minoxidil, simvastatin, Luteolin, and a combination of simvastatin and Luteolin. Over three weeks, the treated groups showed significantly higher levels of total antioxidant capacity, vascular endothelial growth factor, and keratinocyte growth factor compared to the sham group. These groups also experienced notable increases in hair growth, hair count, and hair follicle diameters. The study concluded that simvastatin and Luteolin effectively reduce hair loss due to their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
