Change of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Resulted by Different Minoxidil Preparations in C57BL/6 Mouse

TLDR Lipo-minoxidil increases VEGF expression more than regular minoxidil.
The study investigated the effects of different minoxidil formulations on vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression in the hair follicles of C57BL/6 mice. The mice were divided into four groups, and two dosage forms of minoxidil were applied to their back skin. The onset and duration of the anagen phase were assessed through skin color and histological analysis. Results showed that all minoxidil groups triggered the anagen phase, but the 1.4% lipo-minoxidil group exhibited a higher VEGF expression compared to the 1.4% minoxidil group. The study concluded that lipo-minoxidil significantly enhanced VEGF expression more than the common minoxidil preparation.
