TLDR Insulin resistance and nesfatin-1 are linked to acne severity.
The study evaluated serum levels of nesfatin-1 and insulin resistance in 50 patients with acne vulgaris compared to 30 healthy controls. It found a positive correlation between insulin resistance, measured by HOMA-IR, and acne vulgaris. Additionally, nesfatin-1, a peptide hormone known for its role in appetite suppression and energy homeostasis, was associated with the susceptibility to developing acne vulgaris. The findings suggested that both nesfatin-1 and insulin resistance played roles in the pathogenesis and severity of acne vulgaris.
