TLDR Pink berry extract effectively treats scalp issues from frequent head covering.
The study investigated scalp disorders in individuals who frequently cover their heads, such as those wearing helmets or burqas, leading to increased moisture and friction. Lucas Meyer Cosmetics developed a pink berry extract with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which was tested on human hair follicle dermal papilla cells and keratinocyte cultures. The extract significantly reduced histamine-induced interleukin 8 production and was further tested in a double-blind placebo-controlled trial with 31 volunteers. The results showed significant improvements in erythema, pruritus, and scalp flakes, suggesting that the pink berry extract is an effective treatment for scalp disorders in this population.
