TLDR Trichoscopy helps monitor inflammation in Lichen planopilaris.
Lichen planopilaris (LPP) is a rare inflammatory disorder that causes scarring alopecia, characterized by follicular hyperkeratosis, perifollicular erythema, and permanent hair loss, primarily on the scalp. A 34-year-old woman with hair loss and scalp itching was diagnosed with classic LPP through clinical symptoms, trichoscopy, and histological findings. Initial treatment with topical corticosteroids was ineffective, but remission was achieved after 2 months of hydroxychloroquine 200 mg twice daily. Trichoscopy proved useful as an additional diagnostic tool for monitoring inflammation in LPP.
