Studysummary This study found that Juvéderm Ultra Plus was safe and effective for correcting severe nasolabial folds in a Chinese population, requiring less volume than Restylane while achieving similar responder rates, with fewer severe treatment site reactions. Our plain-language summary of this paper — not a Tressless recommendation.
The study assessed the safety and effectiveness of Juvéderm Ultra Plus injectable gel in correcting severe nasolabial folds (NLFs) in 124 Chinese subjects through a double-blind, randomized trial comparing it with Restylane. Juvéderm Ultra Plus required less volume and had a similar responder rate to Restylane. Both treatments showed significant improvements in NLF severity scores at 6 months, with subject-assessed responder rates being similar. A majority of subjects preferred Juvéderm Ultra Plus, which also had a favorable safety profile with common side effects being mild to moderate. The study concluded that Juvéderm Ultra Plus was safe and effective for treating severe NLFs in Chinese subjects.
