TLDR Ultra-high-frequency ultrasound effectively evaluates the impact of hyaluronic acid fillers in reducing nasolabial fold wrinkles over time.
The study involved 13 patients who received hyaluronic acid (HA) filler for nasolabial fold correction, evaluated using ultra-high-frequency ultrasound (UHFUS). The UHFUS showed an increase in dermal thickness by 11% immediately after injection, and by 7.4% and 6.8% for the right and left side, respectively, after 24 weeks. Wrinkle severity reduced by 56% immediately after the injection and by 47.1% at 6 months. The study concluded that UHFUS is a valuable tool in aesthetic medicine for evaluating the distribution and permanence of HA fillers. However, the study acknowledges limitations including a relatively small sample size and the need for further research involving larger and more diverse populations.
