TLDR Rosemary may effectively treat hair loss with fewer side effects than conventional treatments.
This literature review examines the potential of Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) as a treatment for androgenetic alopecia (AGA), highlighting its properties as an anti-inflammatory, anti-androgenic, anti-fungal, photoprotective agent, and vasodilator. The review suggests that rosemary could offer an effective, plant-based alternative for managing AGA with minimal side effects, contrasting with conventional treatments like 5α-reductase inhibitors and androgen receptor antagonists, which are associated with significant adverse effects such as sexual dysfunction and hepatic injury.
