Susan Farrell, Susan Farrell, Stephen K. Epstein
TLDR An overdose of Rogaine can cause severe health issues like low blood pressure and heart problems.
In 1999, a case report detailed an oral overdose of 3 g of minoxidil from the Rogaine Extra Strength 5% solution, which was used for treating male-pattern baldness. The overdose resulted in severe toxicity, including profound hypotension, prolonged tachycardia, and fluid overload with pleural effusions. The patient required vasopressor support, intubation, and several days of therapy with furosemide. This incident was noted as the largest reported ingestion of minoxidil and the first overdose of the extra strength solution.
