TLDR The study found genetic diversity in coat color dilution among Czech pointers in Slovakia.
The study analyzed the R199H polymorphism of the canine melanophilin gene (MLPH) in a population of 41 Czech pointers in Slovakia. This gene is associated with coat color dilution, which can lead to color dilution alopecia (CDA), a condition involving hair loss. The research identified three genotypes within the population: 32 dogs had the homozygous GG genotype, 7 dogs had the heterozygous AG genotype, and 2 dogs had the recessive homozygous AA genotype. The study utilized the PCR-RFLP method to detect these genotypes, highlighting the genetic diversity related to coat color and potential alopecia in this breed.
