TLDR PRP injections are not effective for long-term treatment of temporal triangular alopecia.
This case report described a 58-year-old male with temporal triangular alopecia (TTA) treated with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections. The treatment involved 5 monthly sessions of 2 ml PRP injections. Dermoscopic follow-up showed an increase in the number and thickness of vellus hairs, but the overall clinical improvement was unsatisfactory, with hair thinning recurring 6 months after treatment discontinuation. The study concluded that PRP might not be a suitable treatment for TTA due to its transient response and limited efficacy. Further research was recommended to explore better treatment options for TTA.
