TLDR PRP with TM bio-dressing improves skin graft healing in cats.
This study evaluated the effects of Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) and Tilapia Mozambique (TM) bio-dressing on auto skin graft (ASG) healing in 9 male cats. The cats were divided into three groups: a control group with moist dressing, a group treated with only TM bio-dressing, and a group treated with both PRP and TM bio-dressing. Results showed that the group receiving both PRP and TM bio-dressing exhibited improved epithelial tissue thickness, hair follicle, sweat gland, sebaceous gland development, and neovascularization. Additionally, this group had less dense collagen and a broader distribution of caspase-3 positive cells, indicating enhanced healing. The study concludes that PRP combined with TM bio-dressing is more effective for ASG in cats.
