TLDR DMG-Na may improve blood flow and help hair growth without side effects.
The study explored the effects of N,N-Dimethylglycine sodium salt (DMG-Na) on skin microcirculation and its potential in treating hair loss. In vitro experiments showed that DMG-Na increased intracellular calcium levels, activated eNOS, and enhanced NO production, suggesting vasodilation effects. A human in vivo study with a 1% DMG-Na gel demonstrated improved skin blood flow and velocity. Involving 462 subjects across 3 randomized, placebo-controlled trials, the study found that topical DMG-Na formulations significantly improved blood flow and velocity, indicating potential benefits for hair growth. The study confirmed the safety of DMG-Na, with no adverse effects observed, and recommended further clinical studies to explore its applications.
