TLDR The powder shampoo with cinnamon extract has strong antioxidant properties and is eco-friendly.
The study developed a powder shampoo with antioxidant properties by incorporating Cinnamomum zeylanicum bark extract into a formulation containing alpha olefin sulfonate (AOS) and sodium cocoyl isethionate (SCI). The addition of cinnamon extract significantly increased the total phenolic content, total antioxidant activity, and radical scavenging activity without affecting the shampoo's detergency action. While the clinical efficacy of the formulation remains untested, the powder format allows for easy and economical manufacturing and potential eco-friendly packaging, which could reduce plastic consumption in the shampoo industry.
