Phytochemicals in the Management of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, Endometriosis, and Menstrual Irregularities
December 2025
TLDR Plant compounds may help manage PCOS, endometriosis, and menstrual issues.
Phytochemicals, which are naturally occurring plant-based compounds, show promise in managing reproductive health disorders such as PCOS, endometriosis, and menstrual irregularities. These conditions often have limited treatment options due to side effects and inconsistent efficacy. Phytochemicals like isoflavones, flavonoids, phytosterols, and polyphenols possess antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and hormone-modulating properties that can improve symptoms by enhancing insulin resistance, modulating hormone levels, regulating menstrual cycles, and reducing cyst size. These compounds offer a potential alternative or complementary approach to current pharmacological treatments.
