TLDR Photography is a simple and effective way to track hair loss treatment progress with finasteride.
The study evaluated the use of photography as a simple method to monitor patients with androgenetic alopecia treated with 1 mg/day of finasteride, a drug with proven efficacy. The clinical evaluation of androgenetic alopecia was noted to be challenging and often subjective, with existing complex methods not accessible to all dermatologists. The study aimed to assess the practicality and effectiveness of photographic evaluation in providing a more objective measure of treatment progress in these patients.
