TLDR Mutamba may help treat hair loss due to its tannins and other compounds.
Guazuma ulmifolia, known as mutamba, was studied for its potential in treating hair loss, attributed to its tannin content, which exhibited various pharmacological activities such as anti-inflammatory and capillary protective actions. Microscopic analysis revealed large secretor ducts and star-shaped trichomes, with polyphenolic compounds concentrated in the phloematic region and periderm. Chemical analysis of the bark identified flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and mucilages, supporting its traditional use for hair loss treatment.
