TLDR Brunfelsia uniflora has good antioxidant properties and moderate antibacterial activity.
The study focused on Brunfelsia uniflora, a plant used in traditional medicine, to evaluate its phytochemical and biological properties. The research assessed the antioxidant activity of the plant's extracts using DPPH radical scavenging and measured phenolic and flavonoid content. The ethyl acetate fraction (FAe) showed the best antioxidant results with an effective concentration (CE50) of 90.2 ppm, followed by the n-butanol fraction (FB) with 133.2 ppm. FAe also performed well in allelopathic tests, while the hydroalcoholic extract (EBH) and resin (Res) showed moderate antibacterial activity against Bacillus cereus. None of the samples were active against Artemia salina.
