TLDR Peripheral treatments showed some improvement in sexual dysfunction, but central symptoms remain challenging.
This study investigates the peripheral nature of persistent sexual dysfunction associated with post-finasteride, post-SSRI, and post-accutane syndromes through a case study of three male patients. These patients underwent a 16-week treatment involving high-frequency electrical stimulation and low-intensity extracorporeal shock wave therapy. Results showed mild to moderate improvements in erectile function, penile sensitivity, and nocturnal erections. Peripheral neuropathy was identified in two patients, suggesting a treatable peripheral component to the syndrome. However, central symptoms persisted, indicating a need for further research to address the profound impact of these symptoms.
